  2. * * Bible Baseball for Windows version 2.1 - Read this file first!  * *

  5. Installation Instructions for Program Manager:
  6.     - Place the following four (5) files into a new directory 
  7.       (like c:\winbb) or into an existing directory.  Just as long
  8.       as the 5 files are in the SAME directory.
  9.         WINBB.EXE
  10.         BIBLE.QUS
  11.         BB0.WAV
  12.         BB1.WAV
  13.         BB2.WAV
  14.     - Select the window in program manager into which you want to
  15.       add WinBB
  16.     - Pull down the FILE menu and select NEW
  17.     - Select Program Item and click OK
  18.     - In the Program Item Properties window select BROWSE
  19.     - Manipulate the directory structure until you find the directory
  20.       where you placed the 5 WinBB files
  21.     - Select WINBB.EXE and click OK
  22.     - Back in the Program Item Properties window type "Bible Baseball"
  23.       (without the quotes) into the DESCRIPTION field and click OK
  24.     - That's it!  WinBB should now be installed in the current window

  26. Playing Instructions:
  27.     - Pull down HELP menu inside Winbb for playing instructions.

  29. Machine Requirements:
  30.     - Windows 3.1
  31.     - Arial, Times New Roman true type fonts
  32.     - MS Sans Serif screen font
  33.     - VBRUN300.dll visual basic run module
  34.     - MMSYSTEM.dll (for sound) - supplied with Windows 3.1 in your
  35.       Windows\System directory (unless you deleted it!)
  36.     - Speaker.drv (for sound) or equivalent - without it you won't
  37.       hear the crowd

  39. About the Author:
  40.     This is my first attempt at creating a program for the PC to be
  41.     distributed to the general public.  But I am not exactly a novice
  42.     to computers.  I am an 18 year mainframe computer programmer.  
  43.     My wife wanted me to learn Visual Basic so that I could write
  44.     some applications for her fifth grade classroom's PC.  She
  45.     teaches at Penn Christian Academy in Norristown, PA.  If you have
  46.     any comments, corrections, bug notifications (heaven forbid),
  47.     or ideas for other useful educational programs,    please just let
  48.     me know.  My address is listed in Bible Baseball's ABOUT box.

  50. Development Environment:
  51.     This program was written in Visual Basic V3.0 Standard Edition
  52.     on my home PC which is a 486SX-25 with 4 meg RAM.  I'm running
  53.     Windows 3.1 on top of MS-DOS 6.2 using the standard Microsoft
  54.     memory manager(HIMEM/EMM386), disk cache (Smartdrv), and speaker
  55.     driver (speaker.drv). It was also tested on a 486-33, a 386-33, 
  56.     and a 386SX-16.  Some of the machines running 640x480 and some
  57.     at 800x600.  It ran successfully on all of the machines
  58.     (it was a little slow on the 386SX).  The only setup that seems
  59.     to pose a problem is a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 (LARGE
  60.     FONT).  Under this resolution the bitmaps don't seem to fit the
  61.     window (I'm working on it).

  64.     - Maintaining high scores
  65.     - Better animation (I'm trying everything!)
  66.     - Selecting questions by books of the Bible
  67.     - Computer players with different strengths
  68.     - 1 out & 9 run options by team

  72.     - v1.0 released 1/11/94
  73.     - v1.1 released 1/20/94 - Typos in question file fixed, sound menu
  74.       bar option changed to avoid some confusion, some buttons changed
  75.       to fit labels better.
  76.     - v1.2 released 1/26/94 - New question file format implemented
  77.       with a canonical number and all info on one line.  Please note
  78.       that the program will work with both the old and new question
  79.       file formats!  Also, a conversion program is available to
  80.       convert the old question format to the new format.
  81.     - v1.3 released 1/27/94 - Three new options added to program
  82.       startup.  First, option for allowing a maximum of 9 runs per
  83.       half inning.  Second, option for allowing only 1 out per half
  84.       inning.  Lastly, option to start game without sound.
  85.     - v1.4 released 1/28/94 - Options to select only Old Testament
  86.       or New Testament questions added.  Also, option info in menu
  87.       bar of game.
  88.     - v1.5 released 2/14/94 - Team uniform colors change at the end
  89.       of each half inning.  Plus new closing screen.  Added new button
  90.       on opening screen to "quit" without entering game.
  91.     - v1.6 released 2/25/94 - More animation.  Players run on and off
  92.       the field.  Batter and on-deck hitter move accordingly.  Added
  93.       options to opening screen and to new "options" menu bar for
  94.       turning animation, sound, 1 out limit, or 9 run limit on or off.
  95.       Added opening "Play Ball" wav file.
  96.     - v1.7 released 3/10/94 - New start-up screen buttons and message.
  97.       Question screen warning message.  Improvements made in center
  98.       baseball field message area.
  99.     - v2.0 released 04/05/94 - Save and restart options added.  Game
  100.       now full-screen compatible to 800x600. Some behind-the-scenes
  101.       coding and bitmap enhancements.  Handling of quotation marks in
  102.       question add screen.
  103.     - v2.1 released 05/11/94 - Internal improvements. Fixed bug with
  104.       overlap of shortcut keys on options menu bar.

  106. Questions:
  107.     - This game contains 4 classifications of questions.  They are
  108.       SINGLE, DOUBLE, TRIPLE, and HOME RUN.
  109.     - The SINGLE questions are the easiest and the HOME RUN
  110.       questions are the hardest.
  111.     - This version of WinBB contains 100 questions
  112.       (40 SINGLE, 20 DOUBLE, 20 TRIPLE, and 20 HOME RUN).
  113.     - Questions are taken from several different transalations.
  114.     - More questions are available for a small fee.
  115.     - Instructions for entering your own questions are also available.
  116.     - The question file (BIBLE.QUS) format was altered in version 1.2
  117.       to put all fields on 1 line so that it can more easily be
  118.       imported into a spreadsheet or other apilcation.  Plus a new
  119.       field was added as the first field.  It is canonical number
  120.       (sequence number of books in Bible).  Note: The game will still
  121.       work with the old format, but the Old/New Testament selection
  122.       will not identify the old format questions.
  123.     NOTE: If you have created questions from a version of Bible Baseball
  124.       prior to version 1.2 (that is, in the old format) and would
  125.       like them converted to the new format, please notify me either
  126.       by E-mail (AOL-id=RLB777) or by US Mail.  I will provide to
  127.       you (for free) a convert program that will convert your questions
  128.       into the new format.  Remember, the old format will still work
  129.       with the current version.  Just the Old/New Testament option won't
  130.       work.
